seems, it is quite interesting issue.Today, the idea of Cube has been explained. wow what a hell of thoughts and programming to reach this idea. How it can be possible to save data from different data resources in multidimensional cube that prevent u from the huge cost of joining operation between multiple tables. The only disadvantage in it is the data redundancy but it is must to hugely improve the performance. For example , u can make a query that require a join operation between say 5 tables each of 10000 record of 1 gigabyte each ,it will take more than one hour at least meanwhile it wold take less than a second using the multidimensional cube.

Problem definition:

The main problem is that the check out raw is too long and it take a lot of time to reach the cashier. Some supermarkets tried to solve this problem by increasing the number of cashiers but if you think about it you will find that a huge amount of money is paid from salaries and human mistakes. Other supermarkets don’t have enough space to increase the number of cashiers. Both supermarkets still complain about the long raw problem.

Scope:

The solution of this problem should deal with customer’s operations and the systems should be affected by these operations. The cart will be an interface between the customer and the system. The cart should require some services which represent a customer operation and the system should know some information about the cart.

Description of the solutions:

Solution (1):

Every cart in the supermarket will have a small computer that has some features:

·        Calculate the total cost of purchased items

·        Show a list of purchased items

·        Add new purchased item

·        Remove a purchased item (it may cause some problems but we will find a solution)

·        Show offers

·        Search for an item

·        Connect to the system at the cashier

  Solution (2):

A site that represents a virtual supermarket that is exactly the same as a real one so that a customer hasn’t to go to the supermarket to buy his needs. I think it is an advanced way of e-commerce.

Problem:

Some supermarkets don’t have plenty of cashiers which cause a long waiting queue. Other supermarkets such as carforr have many cashiers, even though some days each cashier has a long waiting queue.(Business problem)

Solution to be implemented:

1- An intelligent cart that is capable of counting customer’s purchased items and there total cost + other features (search for an item). So, cashiers don’t have to do anything except taking money. This would make the check out much faster. 2- A 3D site that visualize the supermarket as it is (as GTA game and other 3D games). This solution is like an e-shopping that help in reducing the physical customers in a supermarket (this solution is targeting huge supermarkets as carforr).
